In September, the energy of youth activism came alive once again as GIFSEP, in partnership with Oxfam and the Climate Justice Youth Ambassadors (CJYA) , hosted the Climate Justice Youth Ambassador Bootcamp, an immersive 2-day gathering designed to strengthen the voices, skills, and conviction of young climate champions across Nigeria. The Bootcamp created a space where passion met purpose, offering emerging leaders the tools to transform their ideas into action and their advocacy into impact.

From the opening session, the atmosphere was charged with urgency and hope. Participants, drawn from diverse communities and movements, came together around a shared commitment: to shape a more just, resilient, and sustainable future. Through interactive discussions, hands-on sessions, and peer learning, the Bootcamp guided young advocates through the fundamentals of climate justice, adaptation and mitigation strategies, circular economy principles, and meaningful policy engagement.

The experience went beyond training. It cultivated a community, as participants explored how to collaborate across sectors, how to hold decision-makers accountable, and how to design climate actions rooted in local realities. They engaged with experts, connected with mentors, and learned practical advocacy tools, from messaging and storytelling to campaign planning and community mobilization, that would support their work long after the Bootcamp ended.
The CJYA Bootcamp is a reaffirmation that when young people are empowered, connected, and supported, they become unstoppable drivers of change. And as the climate movement continues to grow across Nigeria, these Ambassadors stand ready to lead, fueled by knowledge, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to climate justice.
