What if waste could become something useful? What if discarded materials could create income, reduce environmental pollution, and support local communities? These questions inspired the creation of GIFSEP AGRO, a sustainable enterprise initiative designed to transform waste into environmentally friendly and economically valuable products. The initiative reflects GIFSEP’s commitment to promoting circular economy practices while creating livelihood opportunities for community beneficiaries through practical green solutions.

Through this initiative, community beneficiaries are actively engaged in promoting environmental sustainability by transforming materials that would otherwise become waste into environmentally responsible products that generate income and support local livelihoods.

Among the products already being produced are multi-purpose organic oil extracted from coconuts, with the coconut shells repurposed into handcrafted kitchen utensils such as cups, bowls, and spoons. Beneficiaries also produce liquid organic fertilizer from animal manure, nutrient-rich compost from agricultural waste to support healthier farming practices, and durable reusable shopping bags made from discarded event banners.

GIFSEP AGRO forms part of our broader commitment to advancing food security, ecosystem preservation, community empowerment, and resilience. It is both creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and driving a shift in behaviour and perceptions towards responsible production, resource efficiency, and conscious consumption.
