This year, GIFSEP’s work received national recognition through the Nigeria Top Eco-Hero 2025 award, presented by Environment Africa Magazine. The honour was conferred on GIFSEP’s Executive Director, Dr. Michael Terungwa David, who was named among the 2nd Nigeria’s Top 100 Environmental and Sustainability Professionals.

The recognition reflects years of sustained leadership in climate justice, food security, renewable energy advocacy, and community-driven environmental action. Under Dr. David’s leadership, GIFSEP has grown from a vision into a trusted platform amplifying grassroots voices, influencing policy, and advancing inclusive climate solutions across Nigeria.
Beyond personal acknowledgement, the award represents the collective effort of communities, partners, staff, and right-holders who continue to shape GIFSEP’s work on the ground. It is a reminder that principled leadership, rooted in justice and accountability, remains essential in the fight for a resilient and sustainable future.
As GIFSEP marks a decade of impact, this recognition strengthens our resolve to keep pushing boundaries, standing with communities, and building solutions that place people and the environment first.
